Five Ways to Celebrate Spring and Feel Rejuvenated

Feb 20, 2009 Colleen Boudreau

Spring is a great time for women to explore new ways to increase energy and celebrate growth. Here are some self care ideas for celebrating the season.

Spring is widely recognized as a season that brings signs of new life and energy. This makes it the perfect time for women to focus some of this energy on improving their self care plans. The following self care activities can help women relax, feel healthier and celebrate spring all at once.

Take Time Out for Nature

One good way to relax and enjoy spring is to experience nature first hand. Going for a short walk or sitting on the front porch can provide a welcome distraction from daily life stresses. For those who are unable to venture outside, opening a window on a mild sunny day can freshen the air and bring the uplifting sounds of spring birds and other outdoor wildlife inside.

Get in Shape for Summer

Mild spring weather brings with it increased opportunities to become more involved in outdoor activities. Walking, cycling and hiking are good ways to boost personal energy and get a head start on getting fit for the summer. It is important to remember to consult a health professional before starting a new diet or exercise regimen.

Write Letters

With the recent increased reliance on email, the art of letter writing has become a rarity. Picking up a pen and writing an old fashioned letter to an old acquaintance, a friend or a relative can not only have an uplifting effect on the writer, but may also boost the spirits of the recipient.

Start a Morning Ritual

Starting a new relaxing ritual first thing in the morning is a great way to jump start the day. Some ideas for morning self-care rituals could include;

  • Waking 30 minutes earlier and taking time to relax and enjoy the morning before starting the usual daily routine.
  • Trading in the morning coffee for a herbal tea or health drink.
  • Taking some time to read something inspirational, humorous or meditative.
  • Spending some time being thankful or starting and writing in a gratitude journal.
  • Listening to uplifting music while dressing or going about the morning routine.

Spring Cleaning

Although the task itself might be seen as tedious at first, the acts of decluttering and cleaning can be rejuvenating. Getting rid of unnecessary, unneeded or unloved items can free up space for items that might be more relevant to ones current lifestyle. Once the home is decluttered and freshly cleaned one feels more comfortable inviting guests over which can set the stage for new friendships.

Setting time aside each day to acknowledge the natural environment can be a relaxing and refreshing way to spruce up a self care plan. Activities such as getting in shape and spring cleaning help women to create healthier lifestyles and rid themselves of old habits and patterns. Starting a new self care activity is a wonderful way to celebrate spring.
